Who am I?
Hello! My name is Paola, and I’ve been a licensed tour guide in the Campania region since 2017.
I hold a Master’s degree in Art History from the University of Naples "Federico II," where I wrote my dissertation on "The Use of Greek Mythology in Medieval Churches." In 2021, I also completed a post-graduate degree in Cultural Tourism Management at the University "Suor Orsola Benincasa."
I’ve worked in tourism for over ten years, a field I’m deeply passionate about. Being a tour guide is both a privilege and a mission: I represent my country’s cultural heritage and love connecting with people from all over the world.
Born and raised in the Paesi Vesuviani (the towns around Mount Vesuvius), I’ve been visiting Pompeii and Herculaneum for as long as I can remember—they feel like second homes. My passion for history extends to Greek, Roman, and Medieval times, and I’m constantly expanding my knowledge, with a recent focus on Mediterranean history, the Crusades, and the Ottoman Empire.
Travelling is another love of mine. As a child, I explored Italy and Europe with my parents in our camper van, which sparked my lifelong curiosity. Now, I try to travel every two to three months for inspiration and peace of mind.
I look forward to helping you discover this unique region like a local. My goal is to ignite your curiosity and share my love for these places without overwhelming you with too many details. As Plutarch said: "La mente non è un vaso da riempire ma un fuoco da accendere" (The mind is not a vessel to be filled but a fire to be lit).
